Delta, Colorado
Delta is nestled in the heart of Western Colorado - 42 miles South of Grand Junction on Hwy 50 and 21 miles North of Montrose also on Hwy 50. Delta County is home to approximately 26,700 people. Whereas Delta is the county it has a population of approximately 6,500 occupants with an additional 4,000 living in a five mile radius.
Our schools are: Garnet Mesa Elementary(K-5) 680 students, Lincoln Elementary(K-5) 338 students, Delta Middle School(6) 175 students, Delta Middle School(7-8) 336 students, Delta High School(9-12) 614 students, and the Delta-Montrose Vocational-Technical Center has a wide range of opportunities for students of all ages.
The average growing season is 143 days, average annual rainfall is 7.7 inches, and our average annual snowfall is 16 inches. The City of Delta's elevation is 4,980 feet and the County elevation: Low, 4,758 feet and High is 11,396 feet.
For the sportsman we have elk, bear, deer, antelope, mountain lion, pheasant, and quail to test your skills; for the artistic person - try painting the towering , majestic peaks of the San Juans - the Ragged Mountains - Mount Lamborn - Needle Rock - or Court House Rock - all (or some) can be seen from many of the properties we offer; for the physically fit - there are many walking, running, and bicycle trails, the Bill Heddles Recreational Center has a wide variety of excises programs, an Olympic size swimming pool, racquet ball, tennis, and numerous other activities on going.
